Website portfolio based on a creative discussion with and for an architectural design office. Sam Chermayeff is an architect, designer and teacher with an extended interest in how we live alone and together. With offices in New York and Berlin, the studios work on a wide range of design-driven projects ranging from larger multiunit residential buildings, several small houses and furniture.

Architecture and visual design are two interlinked disciplines which mutually benefit from discourse and conversation. This project is the result of a creative dialogue with the client’s office, mainly based on discussion about how to move from the standard graphic form of architectural portfolios to something new or different. The resulting website design builds upon the forms, shapes, materials and surfaces which the studio frequently uses in their practice. It strives to replicate the materials’ sensory experiences and give them meaning within the medium of a digital portfolio. The website is built upon a simple rule where the left side contains the images and the right side the corresponding textual information.
